Taking Turns (not

A Mythical Magical Razzical Dazzical Unhinged Palm-Fringed They-Don't-Write-'Em-Like-That-Any-More Victwardian Musical Hall!!
British Music Hall, akin
to vaudeville, has played for about 150 years, reaching the height
of popularity 1880-1920. A typical show features several artistes
who take turns performing. Each song or act becomes known as a Turn.
Acts range from folk ballads to slapstick to the naughty suggestiveness
of their Victorian/Edwardian heyday.
Susan Pellowe specializes
in the music of the "Victwardian" period (1890-1910),
both British and American. Her repertoire embraces melodramatic
ballads, songs in the style of famed male impersonator Vesta Tilley,
and humorous character numbers. Pellowe has performed in London for
the British Music Hall Society shows as well as for regional British societies.
Taking Turns has run in Aurora, in Stratford, Ontario, and in Chicago --
where Pellowe says the most satisfying performance was a benefit for the
Shakespeare Globe Center.
Tailoring each show to its audience,
she delights in leading audiences too through tongue-twisters
and catchy choruses for a Turn of their own. Taking Turns is an
Up-to-Date Old-Fashioned Good Time!
