O Susanna!

"Susan Pellowe inhabits Susanna Wesley – or vice versa, I can’t tell which. I only know she comes alive."

Susanna Wesley tells her own story in this lively one-person presentation. First she introduces herself, her era, and her large family. Then with anecdotes and engaging narrative, Susanna oncentrates on aspects of Wesley family life that you tell her you most want to know about. Some of the more popular topics include the children’s schooling, John and Charles’ brief ministry in America, the details of the fire that left the family homeless, Susanna’s experiences in London toward the end of her life, Samuel’s poetry and religious writings, the daily routine at Epworth, how Susanna saw her role as a mother, the lives of the seven daughters, the grandchildren, Susanna’s views of the sabbath – and more.

Minimum length is 20 minutes (which nicely fits into the sermon slot if you invite her to participate in a worship service), but it is best to allow an hour. This accommodates 30 minutes for presentation and 15-20 minutes for follow-up Q&A so that people can ask what they’ve realized they really want to know.

For this impersonation, Susan Pellowe works not from a set "canned" script but from her decades of study and familiarity with Wesley material. You need to know that no two presentations are ever identical! æ she tries to suit the information to the particular audience. Therefore it’s fine to ask for "basic information" if your audience is learning for the first time about this amazing woman; it’s also fine to specify what your audience may already have studied and therefore to ask for in-depth specialization.

Don’t be shy – enter Susanna’s world at any point!
